Post 5: Changes to my study program

Imagen
Hello everyone! In today's post I will discuss what I would like to change in my study program. I should begin by saying that I am majoring in Design. To be more precise, I am following the "Visuality and Media" concentration (Spanish: Visualidad y Medios), with the goal of becoming a graphic and book designer and be part of the book publishing industry. What would I like to change about my study program? For starters, I would like that the University provided us with more tools and materials. Yesterday I needed a "long reach stapler" to put together a small zine, but, guess what, there was none to be found on campus. Other times we have to wait in queues to print stuff or have access to tools. As the course deadlines approach, having limited access to resources put us under a lot of stress. And, besides this, we have to spend a lot of money on materials. I wish there was some sort of mon

Post 4: Time travel to the past or future

Imagen
Hello everybody! Today, I want to discuss the intriguing concept of time travel. The moment I stumbled upon this idea, my mind immediately wandered to the beloved film "Back to the Future". In this movie, the protagonist inadvertently travels back in time, altering future events when he encounters his own father. While I am tempted to journey into the past to witness the Big Bang (despite the lack of oxygen molecules required for survival), to venture to Ancient Greece and converse with the great minds of Plato and Aristotle, or to go to Florence and talk to Leonardo da Vinci about his works (which would be my favourite option from the past), I think the best is yet to come. I would definitely travel to the future! Leonardo da Vinci Specifically, I would embark on a journey 500 or 1000 years ahead, remaining within the borders of Chile. I am curious to witness the progress and development of the country where I live, particularly in terms of nature conservation, animal welfa

Post 3: My dream job

Imagen
In this blog I am going to write about my dream job. First of all, I want to mention that I study Graphic Design, and after finishing my degree, I would like to do a postgraduate degree abroad. I have thought about studying in New York, Barcelona, London or Florence, it is something that I have not decided yet, because I must analyze the different options as to which Master's degree would be the best or most suitable for me. I like Graphic Design a lot, but it is not my only interest. I think my dream job could be Cultural Management, for this a Diploma from a university in the country is enough, but I would like to go further. My other option, after finishing my major, is to enter the Diplomatic Academy of Chile and become a Consul. In this way, I could live in many countries, meet people and different cultures. However, on the other hand, I could also return to my city, Viña del Mar, and work at the Municipality, in the Department of Culture. This way I would have a quiet lif

Post 2 : The best holidays ever

Imagen
Hello everybody! Today I am going to tell you about one of the most beautiful holidays I have ever had. A couple of years ago I obtained a scholarship from the "Fondo del Libro" of the Ministry of Culture to take an Italian Literature course in Florence. I went for a month, but I wasn't just in Florence, I also visited several cities, such as Rome, Venice and Pisa. My boyfriend accompanied me for the first two weeks, so it was a very nice trip and the furthest we have gone together, so far.    One of the places that had the greatest impact on me was the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci. I had to take several means of transportation to get there. From Florence I took a train to get to a town, from where I took a bus to get to Vinci, which is also a town, but very pretty. The people still work the land, it's like going back in time. The colors are the same that Leonardo painted in his paintings. From Vinci I took something like an Uber, but it wasn't an Uber itself

A country I'd like to visit

One place I would definitely like to visit is Greece, starting with Athens, its capital. Why? For all its History and Culture. I'd love to walk through the same places that philosophers like Plato and Aristotle walked centuries ago. Nowadays, Athens is a city that holds many cultural and architectural treasures; discovering the ancient city that is still alive in every corner would be simply wonderful! Another reason why I would like to travel to Greece is Santorini. It would be a dream to be able to walk through the passages with blue-roofed houses facing the sea. I have read that the best time to travel is in spring or autumn, because the temperatures in summer are too high. On the other hand, winter is not the best time, because the brightly coloured flowers are best seen during the rest of the year, not in winter.  Finally, I must mention that Greek cuisine is really delicious. The ingredients are all familiar: meat, fish and, above all, fruit and vegetables such as tomatoes,

Leonardo da Vinci

Imagen
Hello there! Today I am going to talk about Leonardo da Vinci. Together with some of my classmates, we think he was the first designer. Why? Because through the observation of references that he found in nature, Leonardo was inspired to create new inventions. He analyzed these references, then made sketches until he came up with a design that convinced him. He looked for materials to build some models and then created a prototype, which is practically the work of a designer.  Over time, it has been believed that some of his inventions did not work, but in fact he purposely left mistakes in his books so that if they were stolen, they could not be put together. Only he knew where the mistake was and could build his invention right. Leonardo da Vinci, as we all know, was born in Vinci, in 1452. He trained as an artist in Florence, in the workshop of Andrea del Verrocchio, but much of his career was spent in other Italian cities such as Milan and Rome, where he worked as an engineer, pain

A happy moment in Aruba

Imagen
Here I am with new friends I made at the First International Poetry Encounter in Aruba. All of us in this photo come from different countries and for some of us, this was the first time we visited the island.  Aruba is a small island located in the Caribbean Sea a few kilometers north of Venezuela and it belongs to the Netherlands. The language of Aruba is Papiamento, which sounds like a mixture of Italian, French, Spanish, a little English and Dutch, plus indigenous words. All the people there speak 4 or 5 languages.  We took this picture to remember our time together at this event. We had a great time together. We ate a lot of fried things, talked about topics that interested us and laughed a lot. The person I felt closest to is Marta, from Puerto Rico. We became very close friends and we write each other by WhatsApp very often.
