A happy moment in Aruba

Here I am with new friends I made at the First International Poetry Encounter in Aruba. All of us in this photo come from different countries and for some of us, this was the first time we visited the island.

Aruba is a small island located in the Caribbean Sea a few kilometers north of Venezuela and it belongs to the Netherlands. The language of Aruba is Papiamento, which sounds like a mixture of Italian, French, Spanish, a little English and Dutch, plus indigenous words. All the people there speak 4 or 5 languages.

We took this picture to remember our time together at this event. We had a great time together. We ate a lot of fried things, talked about topics that interested us and laughed a lot. The person I felt closest to is Marta, from Puerto Rico. We became very close friends and we write each other by WhatsApp very often.
